Golden Top' is an EP of unreleased new tracks that were recorded during the ‘Eyelet’ sessions but didn’t fit that album for one reason or another.

When we had live sets, which feels like a long time time ago now, we’d always start with the ritual of playing handchimes. The three of us hold a single chime in each hand and play an interlocking melody together. It's very simple but can only be played together. We can wander among the audience and venue as far as we like, but we’ve got to listen to each other and pay attention to where we are and who we are with or it will fall apart. In that way this part of the set is a symbol of our beliefs in community, our interlocking dependence on each other and strength in unity. We call it ‘Anointing the Space’, it clears the air and our heads and gets us in the right zone to play. It helps us feel close to the audience.

The first track starts with us playing the chimes. We recorded it last summer, out in the open to a backdrop of sheep and birds. That blurs into a song called ‘Be More Mared’ that we’ve been playing live for a while, inspired by an extraordinary artist friend. Ancestors is the most intimate and burnt out of the tracks and Holding Court is one of our more sombre songs.
